Fertile window

Pregnancy is possible during the 5 days before and on the day of ovulation. These days are known as fertile windows. The sperm can live in the body 5 days and the egg stays for only one day. So, you are trying to conceive you need to plan in the right manner. After the fertile window, it is very difficult to conceive. You need to keep track of the ovulation. When does ovulation occur?

To determine ovulation, you need to be aware of the menstrual cycle. Keep track of when the periods started and the end of the day when the next menstrual cycle begins. 2 weeks before the menstrual cycle the ovulation will start. The woman is most fertile for the first 3 days and at the end of ovulation.

For the women with 28 days between the menstrual cycle, the ovulation occurs on the 14th day and they are the most fertile on 12, 13, and 14.

For women with 35 days between the menstrual cycle, the ovulation occurs on the 21st day and they are most fertile on 19, 20, and 21.

What are the signs of ovulation?

In most cases, there are no specific signs of ovulation. The best way is to determine the menstrual cycle when it starts and ends for a few months. Additionally, you should keep a note of these changes:

• Mucus changes

• During ovulation, mucus may appear clear, slick, and slippery.

• Record the basal body temperature before getting out of bed. During ovulation, the body temperature rises around half a degree celsius

For months when you keep a record of these changes it will form a pattern and it will give you a better idea about your ovulation.

How much time does the IVF treatment take?

While undergoing the IVF treatment, here’s how the treatment timeline will look like:

• You need to visit the fertility hospital between 2 to 3 days of the menstrual cycle to get blood tests and ultrasound.

• For 2 to 4 weeks, you need to take oral medications.

• Once the cycle has ended, the doctor will let you know when the ovaries stimulation process will be done.

• Once enough eggs are produced they will be retrieved from the ovaries.

• On the 5th day of the egg stimulation, you need to visit the fertility doctor regularly. They will make sure your body is responding to the treatment.

• After that, the eggs and sperm are kept together for fertilization. The sperm retrieval process is done on the same day as ovulation.

• After that, the embryo is formed which is transferred back to the reproductive tract after 3 to 5 days of egg retrieval.
