Types of Infertility

Infertility is of 2 types of primary and secondary.

  • Primary infertility means the couple has not conceived.
  • Secondary infertility means the couple had conceived before but they are having problems conceiving naturally.

For a better understanding of infertility, it is important to get in touch with the best fertility doctor at the IVF centre in Punjab. From the reasons for infertility to the best treatment option, the fertility expert will guide you with everything.

Causes of Infertility

STIs are the primary preventable reason for infertility which leads to 70 percent of pelvic inflammatory diseases. In metropolitan cities, lower fertility has become common. No doubt, the lack of ability to get pregnant affects partners and it leads to psychological and emotional stress.

Reasons

Infertility can occur because of men and women. Around 1/3rd of the cases are because of female infertility and another 1/3rd of the cases because of male infertility. The rest of them are because of both men and women.

Female infertility causes rely on numerous elements

  • Problem with fallopian tubes
  • Hormonal imbalance
  • Disrupt ovarian function

If there is an issue with the ovulation then women can have the following conditions:

  • PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome)
  • Operational hypothalamic amenorrhea
  • Premature ovarian insufficiency

Male issues leading to infertility:

  • Sperm irregularities which are categorized into different parts:
  • Oligospermia (lower sperm counts)/Azoospermia (absolutely no sperm)
  • Asthenospermia (Weak sperm motility)
  • Teratospermia (irregular sperm morphology)
  • Distinct aspects such as congenital birth problems, chemical substance exposure, illnesses (like mumps), and lifestyle behavior may cause sperm irregularities.

How to check for infertility?

The doctor will check your previous health records and do the necessary medical assessment to get a better understanding of the situation.

For male partners, the doctor can suggest semen evaluation, and then some assessment might be needed as suggested by the fertility expert.

Treatment

Intrauterine insemination (IUI)

During IUI treatment, the male sperm is put into the women’s uterus with a slim and long tube.

In vitro fertilization (IVF)

During IVF, the egg and sperm are kept together in a controlled environment in the lab which creates an embryo. Fertility specialists will put the embryo into the woman’s uterus and check for the results within 2 weeks. The treatment has the highest success rate of conception.

Gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT)

In this process, the fertilization happens after eggs, as well as sperm, are put in the fallopian tube.

Zygote intrafallopian transfer (ZIFT)

In ZIFT, the fertilized eggs are transmitted to the fallopian tube within one day once the fertilization is done.

Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)

During ICSI, one sperm is inserted into the mature egg and it also helps to deal with sperm which has infertility problems.

Your doctor will tell you which treatment plan will suit your condition the best. Just make sure to consult the best infertility doctor and follow the doctor’s advice to increase the chances of conception.
